THANK YOU!

November 23, 2016

This Thanksgiving we thank you ALL for your support and advocacy of inclusion. Below is a thank you note one of our partners received. Read, enjoy and know that YOU helped make it possible to include her son this summer. THANK YOU!

ec22ac22-d432-46bd-990d-6680ac13bb84“My son David loved being a part of Camp again this summer! He was able to continue his friendships he has developed in past summers and has made a few new friends too. This year he was able to extend these friendships beyond camp by having several playdates. There is also talk of a sleepover in the near future!

David has a diagnosis of not only High Functioning Autism but also ADHD and Oppositional Defiance Disorder which causes his behaviors to be very complex. Between the inclusion specialists and his head counselor they were able to keep him on track with positive behavior for at least 90% of the time which is a huge improvement over last year. The staff being trained to anticipate what may cause him to have tantrums or any difficulty was very beneficial to his success in camp this summer. If it wasn’t for the inclusion program, David would probably have to be a part of a more expensive specialized camp with kids with more severe autism disabilities and I don’t think he would have enjoyed the camp experience as much. David also has a younger brother who attends the camp as well and I think he enjoys being able to go to the same camp as his brother.

David is looking forward to attending camp next summer so I just wanted to let you know how great the program is and I hope more kids like David will be able to participate in this camp experience for years to come. Thank you. “
